Week 44 - Cool index, input fields and a Youtube mini player
This week's five new Figma plugins.
Have you ever been watching a design tutorial video and wished you could watch it right in Figma, next to where you’re designing? Good news; we found a plugin for that!
We also found a nice index creator to help present an overview of your larger files and libraries, a plugin that makes your text layers interactive in prototype mode and a few other new Figma plugins that you might need in your tool lineup.
Keep reading for the full scoop on this week’s latest Figma plugins! 👇
1. App Icons
Insert mobile app icons directly into your designs.
App Icons taps into appicons.co bringing any iOS app icon right into Figma. Use the search to find the app you’re looking for to insert the icon in any shape or frame. A great way to make designs more realistic.

2. Cool Index
Organize your design files into an easy-to-navigate index.
Cool Index helps organize large, complex files and libraries by generating an overview, index page with cards for each section. The cards can be customized and designed to fit your design system style and each card is a direct, one-click access to the right page. A good plugin if you want a one-page look at everything in your file.

3. Hero Patterns Generator
Generate cool, customized patterns.
While there are tons of pattern and graphic-generating plugins, it seems we can’t get enough. Hero Patterns Generator is the new kid on the block, based on the patterns hosted on heropatterns.com. Choose one of the patterns, the color you want and the number of rows and columns for the pattern to repeat, then click generate to insert the result into a Figma frame.

4. Input Fields
Turn any text into an interactive input field.
The plugin Input Fields can help make your prototypes more interactive by turning any text layers into editable input fields. Set your placeholder text and color and the color of the input text. Then switch into prototype mode to see the input field in action. You can repeat this for multiple text layers in a single frame, plus it works with your components so you don’t need to detach them. There are a few bugs and details to improve, for example, symbol keys and backspace to delete text aren’t supported yet.

5. YouTube In-App Player
Watch Youtube videos right in Figma.
Have you ever wanted to follow along with a Youtube tutorial directly in Figma? Right where you’re designing? YouTube In-App Player is the answer! Run the plugin and enter the URL for the Youtube video you want to watch. You can pause, fast forward and interact with the video just as you would in Youtube. You can also resize the plugin to choose how much space it takes up on your canvas.
